Over the years, thousands of people from all over the world have discovered Puerto Aventuras and decided to make this charming Riviera Maya community their permanent home. With them, they have brought their favorite ingredients and cooking techniques which make the Puerto Aventuras restaurant scene as diverse and vibrant as it is today. The international feel of Puerto Aventuras continues to attract more and more families to the community.
In recent years, dozens of new dining establishments have opened their doors in Puerto Aventuras. Today, we have +/- 40 fantastic restaurants and cafes to choose from inside the gated community and even more just a short distance beyond. From colorful, casual taquerias to upscale seaside restaurants to Italian eateries, the culinary landscape of Puerto Aventuras is really starting to come up. There are bars, coffee shops, full-service restaurants, private chef services and caterers! Truly something for everyone.
As you stroll through “downtown” Puerto Aventuras, your senses are sure to be tantalized by the mingling aromas of freshly grilled seafood, fried carnitas, wood-oven-fired pizza and simmering Thai spices. Here you can find everything from traditional Mexican fare with recipes passed down through generations to innovative fusion cuisine marrying fresh local ingredients with global flavors.

Keep in mind, that although most of the restaurants are congregated around the marina, some of the best restaurants may be found outside of the Centro Comercial. You may have to search for them a bit I think you will agree, for great food, it´s worth the effort.

Cafe Olé International
Cafe Olé is an institution in Puerto Aventuras and for good reason. Gaylita and Gary (RIP) have been setting the standard for delicious international food and live entertainment in Puerto Aventuras for decades. The menu has a dizzying array of options all executed well. People love the all-you-can-eat ribs on Sunday and Gaylita´s famous homemade desserts are the talk of the town. Known for good music and good fun, Cafe Ole hosts everything from reggae bands to Elvis impersonators and of course, a host of fantastic local musicians and visiting performers. You never know what you might find. Closed Mondays.
O’ Sole Mio
O Sole Mio is probably one of the best-loved Italian restaurants in Puerto Aventuras. Fabrizio and his crew have been welcoming diners to this charming marina-front location for many years and he has developed a loyal following of foodies. Come for a wide selection of Italian dishes and handmade pizzas. Home delivery is offered. Located on the main marina next door to The Pub. Closed Mondays.
Jessie Gelato
True homemade Italian gelato that has become a favorite of many locals and tourists alike. Stop in, try to decide which flavor to spoil yourself with, and meet the friendly owner, Martin. Located a little bit hidden on the main marina behind The Pub, Jessie Gelato is worth looking for. Closed Mondays.
The Pub
The Pub is famous for its extensive menu meaning there really is something for everyone in this spacious marina-front restaurant. The prices are reasonable as well making this a popular spot for families. There is a spacious seating area outside and a small air-conditioned interior space with TVs if you are looking to beat the heat.
Dolce Vita
An Italian restaurant, serving traditional Italian cuisine including a variety of pasta dishes, pizza seafood and more for lunch and dinner. Located on the main marina between Dos Chiles and The Pub, Dolce Vita has a charming atmosphere and attracts a lot of couples seeking a romantic dinner spot.
Dos Chiles
This is one of the longest-standing restaurants in Puerto Aventuras and for a long time was one of the few choices for Mexican food. A good vantage point to have a drink or snack while you watch the dolphins perform. Located on the main marina, Dos Chiles is open daily.
Lara y Luca
Known for its delicious and inviting atmosphere. With a focus on fresh, local ingredients, the restaurant offers a thoughtful menu that caters to a variety of tastes. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, another trademark of Lara y Luca´s success. This is one of our favorite spots for brunch. Top Tip: Try their excellent Eggs Benedict!
Aventura Gelato
Offering a wide variety of delicious homemade Italian gelato, espresso and yummy sweet desserts, Aventura Gelato can be found on the main marina between Lara y Luca and 081. They also have a second location in Puerto Maya.
081 Cero Ocho Uno
Offering more than just Italian food, the menu at 081 presents a fusion of international flavors and modern twists. With an emphasis on high-quality ingredients and creative presentations, Cero Ocho Uno gets consistently high praise for both the food and service. many people say that 081 has the best pizza in Puerto Aventuras. You be the judge.
TierRa
A delightful culinary destination that celebrates the flavors of Mexico. With a focus on farm-to-table dining, TieRra offers a menu filled with fresh, locally sourced ingredients that showcase the diversity of Mexican cuisine. Live entertainment is offered on some evenings. The restaurant’s cozy ambiance and attentive service create a welcoming atmosphere for guests to enjoy a memorable dining experience in Puerto Aventuras.
Papacitos Cocina
Located on the central marina, Papacitos is known for its flavorful dishes and generous portions, and a menu that caters to both locals and tourists. The restaurant’s relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff create a casual and enjoyable dining experience, making it a popular choice among visitors in Puerto Aventuras. This is also a good spot to catch your favorite sports team on their big-screen TV. Top Tip: Ask Sammy at the bar to make you his famous “Sombrero”.
Makito Japanese & Thai Restaurant
Offering some of the freshest sushi and the finest Asian-Fusion cuisine in the region, Makito is one of the most popular restaurants in Puerto Aventuras. With their excellent location on the central marina, they easily attract a lot of customers. But it’s the unprecedented mix of Asian flavors, excellent service and consistently delicious food that keeps people coming back. Closed Mondays.
Casa Sofia (Temporarily Closed – Nov 2024)
With several locations in Playa del Carmen and Tulum, Casa Sofia has built a great following and is known for serving consistently fresh and delicious Italian fare at a very good price. Their menu is extensive and yet they manage to execute all the dishes well. The marina-front restaurant is charming and well-staffed. Don´t be surprised if the Chef turns up at your table to say hello. Closed Tuesdays.
Tuk Tuk Thai
A vibrant and eclectic dining spot that captures the essence of Asian cuisine. Tuk Tuk offers a menu inspired by various Asian flavors, featuring Thai curries Chinese stir-fries and even some sushi. The Tuk Tuk family´s unique blend of secret spices and fresh ingredients creates a memorable dining experience for those looking to explore the diverse flavors of Asia in Puerto Aventuras. Closed Mondays.
Tejas Tex-Mex Restaurant & Martini Bar
Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, Tejas is perhaps best known for American-style brunch with strong Bloody Marys and refreshing mimosas, just what the doctor ordered after a late night. Sunday brunch features live entertainment from local musicians. Tejas also has a large-screen TV in case you want to catch your favorite team. Tejas is located on the interior of the main marina between Tuk Tuk and Nauti Burro.
Nauti Burro
Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner Nauti Burro serves up a nice selection of smoothies, bowls and burritos that you can build to order. Donnie brings in some of the best local musicians and visiting performers to show off their talents and show the crowds a really good time. As the name implies, you can get some darn good burritos here as well as bowls, chili fries and wings of various levels of heat. Nauti Burro is located on the main marina, near the entrance to the Dolphin Discovery building.
Palapa Manati
Palapa Manati offers an a la carte menu and a buffet for breakfast and lunch. While the bulk of their business comes from Dolphin Discovery, other visitors are also drawn in for the laid-back atmosphere and swing bar. Palapa Manati is located next to the Dolphin Discovery building overlooking the marina. Closed Mondays.
La Chinampita Taqueria
This is a smart-looking new taco place that recently opened in the space formerly occupied by Los Compas. As the name suggests, TACOS are the order of the day but they also serve tortas, alambres, gringas, volcanes and more with all the traditional meats. Choose from pastor, bistec, chuleta, aracherra, chicken, sirloin or rib meat. At La Chinampita, anytime is taco time but Monday and Wednesday is 2×1 tacos al pastor!

Los Aguachiles
New to Puerto Aventuras, Los Aguachiles is a popular restaurant with locations in Playa del Carmen and Tulum. As the name suggests, they specialize in seafood, especially ceviches and aguachiles. They also have a great selection of fish tacos, tostadas, caldos (soups), Mexican-style seafood cocteles and other freshly-made seafood dishes. On a hot day, a cold beer and a fresh ceviche at Los Aguachiles can´t be beat! This was one of our top go-to spots in Playa del Carmen and we hope they do well here.
El Pancracio
Known for its lively atmosphere, colorful lucha libre-inspired decor and delicious tacos, El Pancracio is a fun place to go for a casual affordable meal out. If you are a craft beer fan, they have a nice artisanal selection on tap and by the bottle. El Pancracio is one of the few places in Puerto Aventuras with a pool table. El Pancracio is located overlooking the main marina between Los Aguachiles and Cafe Ole. Closed Mondays.

Acentos
Acentos is a very popular place for breakfast, but they offer lunch and dinner as well. Acentos is well known for its coffee and pastries. Local people flock to Acentos in the morning to sit and enjoy a coffee and a chat with friends. They also offer pizza, salads, baguettes, sandwiches and even sushi. The menu concept seems to change from year to year but the restaurant remains a popular spot for locals.
Italian Bakery & Deli
Fresh Italian style breads, pastries, deserts, dry pasta, Italian cuts of meat and cheese for take away or why not enjoy a sandwich at one of their street side tables? If you are planning a day on the beach and want to load up your picnic basket, this is the place to go. Located on the street side of the main marina just down from OXXO convenience store and next door to Paparazzi.
Paparazzi
Famous for their delicious, wood oven-fired pizza, Paparazzi also offers much more, including various pastas, meat dishes, salads and paninis. Paparazzi sometimes offers live music in the evenings. Located on Punta Celis in the strip of restaurants past the OXXO convenience store. Delivery is available daily.
Mapache Loco
The menu at Mapache Loco is a delightful fusion of Mexican and international flavors, catering to a variety of tastes. From traditional Mexican dishes like tacos, enchiladas, and ceviche to international favorites like burgers, pasta dishes, and salads, there is something to please every palate. Located in the same strip as OXXO, Paparazzi, the Italian Deli and Acentos, Mapache Loco is open daily.
Don Cafeto
Authentic Mexican food from one of the oldest restaurant families in the region, Don Cafeto has replicated the success of their Tulum location right here in Puerto Aventuras. This is not a fancy place, but for authentic Mexican food, you can´t beat it. Don Cafeto is located on the back side of the central marina next to Fanny Rentals. Top Tip: Don´t miss the vegetables pickled in escabeche. Open daily at 7:00 AM.
CASA (Coming Soon)
CASA opens soon in the space previously occupied by Navajo y Vainilla.
According to the owners, we can look forward to “lots of yummy, high-quality products to grab and go that I’ve been sourcing and tasting one by one…including Italian and other European cheeses, delicious hams, the finest coffee in Mexico from Stone Street (NY), Organic & Natural wines, creamy hummus with pita bread, Lebanese tahini, savory meat broth, European-style sausages (they’re seriously amazing), pickles, baguettes, sourdough bread and more …..
Soon after we’ll make our delicious ribs, European style roasted chicken as well as yummy roasted vegetables (crispy potato, carrots, beets) and a fresh Quinoa Tabbouli Salad. Specials will be added to the menu on a weekly basis …”
Pineapple (CLOSED)
Tucked away behind the bandstand, this charming dining establishment embodies tropical vibes and delicious flavors. Pineapple is a cafe, juice bar and specialty shop in Puerto Aventuras. They have a small but thoughtful heart-healthy menu that offers a great selection of vegetarian and vegan dishes, each with a special twist.
Vino e Amore (CLOSED)
Vino e Amore is a new open-air Italian-style bistro located in the Puerto Aventuras bandstand (kiosk). People are raving about their fresh pasta, all made in-house, and of course, the Italian wines! They have a selection of other menu items including tapas, salads, carpaccio and a nice antipasto platter. Inside, there is a small market offering Italian ingredients and freshly made pasta to take home. Vino y Amore is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Restaurants on Bahia Xcacel
Mi Kfe
MiKfe is a tiny little, open-air cafe where locals like to meet in the morning for a quick coffee and a pastry. The cafe also has a small book exchange with quite a few books in English to choose from. Located next to Pelican Point. Open daily at 7:30 AM.
Pelican Point
One of the few fine-dining establishments in Puerto Aventuras, Pelican Point has a strong focus on fresh seafood and shellfish. Chef and Restaurateur Guillermo Lotz has a loyal following of guests who come back year after year. It´s a beautiful place to have a nice meal or celebrate a special occasion. Located on Bahia Xcacel just past the Aventuras Club condominium complex. Open daily for dinner.
Marina Seca Plaza – Caleta Xel Ha
La Caleta
La Caleta is known for being one of the best seafood restaurants in Puerto Aventuras. This is an Argentinean-owned restaurant with a true Argentinean-style grill from which they serve up delicious grilled mahi mahi octopus and lobster (in season) and various cuts of meat. For a taste of authentic Argentinean food in Puerto Aventuras, this is the place to go. Sometimes, they have live music or karaoke. Check the Puerto Aventuras Events calendar for more info. La Caleta is located next to the Marina Seca, overlooking the boat ramp.
El Cafe de Maria
Tucked away at the back of the Marina Seca Plaza, El Cafe de Maria is easy to miss but certainly should not be overlooked. One of Puerto’s newest cafes, Maria serves up coffee and smoothies, fresh keto-friendly bread and muffins, tacos, sandwiches and snacks all at reasonable prices. You can dine in and admire their colorful mural or have your food packed up to enjoy on the beach or on a boat trip. This local eatery is run by great people offering good fresh food and nice service. It´s worth checking out if you find yourself on that side of town. Closed Mondays.
Matcha Mama (CLOSED)
This cute little cafe is tucked into the plaza at the Marina Seca and does a booming business with all the health-conscious people working out at Soul Fit Studio, located just upstairs. Matcha Mama has a great selection of açaí and smoothie bowls, cold-pressed juices, matcha, cold brew coffees, coconut water, kombuchas, vegan ice cream and more. Lots of tasty options if you are following a vegan diet. Open daily at 8:00 AM.
Restaurants in Secret Waters Plaza – Caleta Xel Ha
Munchy’s Sports Bar
If you are looking for an American-style sports bar in Puerto Aventuras, Munchy´s is the place for you. They have all the traditional bar food favorites you are craving, a fully stocked bar, pool tables and an impressive wall of TVs. Whatever game you are looking for you will find it at Munchy´s. Karaoke is hosted on Wednesdays. There is a pool tournament every Saturday afternoon. Located in the Secret Waters Plaza on Caleta Xel Ha, Munchy´s is open daily.
Latitude 20° +/- Grill & Bar
For good food at a great price, you can´t beat Latitude 20. The casual Caribbean vibe, the friendly staff and the low prices make Latitude 20 a perennial favorite with the locals and snowbirds. Come here for the great 2×1 Happy Hour and stay for the mango rum ribs, the fresh ceviche, spicy jerk chicken and the fresh fish specials. There is great live music during the high season and the place gets packed and reservations are strongly recommended. Top Tip: The filet mignon is a surprising showstopper! Latitude 20 is located in the Secret Waters Plaza on Caleta Xel Ha with a nice view overlooking the lagoon of Dreams Puerto Aventuras. Open daily for lunch and dinner from 12:30 PM until 9:30 PM.

Casa Lancava
Casa Lancava is a great little wine bar and the perfect spot to wind down after a long day. They have a lovely selection of salads and sandwiches and a very nice wine list. Bring your friends for an Aperol Spritz and the charcuterie. There is lots of room for kids to run and play making Lancava very popular with the families who have settled on PA Blvd and in Phase 4. Open daily.
Pippo´s Pizza
Pippo´s Pizza is the latest addition to the Puerto Aventuras restaurant scene, taking over the space previously held by Santo Chancho. We have not yet been over to check it out but reports so far are good. They have flaky Argentinean-style empanadas, burgers and sandwiches, milanesas, a variety of finger foods and sides and of course pizza all at very reasonable prices.
Oh, Le Cafe Paris (CLOSED)
A cross between Alice in Wonderland and an old-fashioned sweets shop. Oh, Le Cafe Paris has a full breakfast and lunch menu and a dizzying array of French pastries including macaroons, bonbons and so much more. This cafe has wonderful food and is the best place to bring your daughter and her friends and watch their eyes light up.
LuLú Gelato y Crepas
LuLú Gelato y Crepas is the newest eatery to open up in the Central Park Plaza on Puerto Aventuras Boulevard. LuLú serves, as you might expect, a nice selection of delicious gelato and dessert crepes. Conveniently located, LuLú is already a favorite with the kids who flock to this family-friendly plaza.

Ushi Sushi
The newest sushi restaurant in Puerto Aventuras, Ushi Sushi offers a well-curated selection of rolls, ceviches and tiraditos. The focus here is on quality ingredients and great service and they have managed both quite nicely. Not a sushi fan? They offer some nice cooked items as well and you are free to order from any of the other restaurants in the plaza.
Refresh
Located just next to Ushi Sushi, Refresh is making a mark in Puerto Aventuras for its fresh and imaginative take on Mexican food. While the atmosphere is casual the food and service are some of the best in the area. Located in the Central Park Plaza on PA Blvd, Refresh is a little off the beaten path but worth the trip. Refresh has been getting very good reviews for its fantastic food and superb service and seems to becoming a local favorite. Top Tip: Don´t miss the Spinach Mussels!
Restaurants in the Gran Marina on Bahia Yanten
Bamboo Cafe & Smoothies
From a prime location in the Gran Marina building across from the Colegio, Stella and her crew pump out coffee drinks, smoothies, breakfast pastries, bagels, paninis, sandwiches, salads and desserts from sun up until sundown. This is a very popular spot with a great view overlooking the yachts and sport fishing boats in the marina. Open daily at 7:00 AM, this is a great place to start your day.
Dimelo
Dimelo is a popular bar and restaurant located in the Gran Marina Plaza overlooking the docks. Dimelo had made a name for themselves on their budget-friendly menu and daily specials. The menu reflects a variety of cuisines from Mexican fare to American comfort food all at very cheap prices. Dimelo has a full bar and a great view of the lively charter boats coming in and out of the marina. Open daily.
Restaurants on Punta Matzoma
Chez Waffle
This cozy eatery, tucked away at the end of Punta Matzoma, specializes in mouthwatering waffles and offers a wide variety of both sweet and savory options. Whether you’re craving classic Belgian waffles topped with fresh fruits and whipped cream or savory waffle Eggs Benedict, Chez Waffle has something for everyone. This is a hidden gem in Puerto Aventuras, one of the best places for breakfast and well worth searching out. Closed Mondays.
Restaurants on Bahia Kantenah
Los Morros Callos & Aguachiles
With thriving restaurant locations in Tulum and Merida, Los Morros has a system that works for putting out consistently fresh, delicious seafood to happy customers. The Puerto Aventuras location opened in the summer of 2024 and filled the gap in the gastronomic options in the north end of town. Located on the Kantenah Lagoon inside the Villas Aqua Condo-Hotel complex. Los Morros specializes in ceviches, aguachiles all made with the freshest seafood and mariscos available.
Los Morros also offers plenty of hot dishes including popular choices like Coconut Shrimp, Grilled Octopus and Seafood Stew. They also have an impressive beverage and cocktail menu. We have dined there several times and were impressed with not only the food but the professional, well-trained servers. If you like Los Aguachiles but prefer a more upscale dining experience away from the hustle and bustle of the main marina, this is the place. We will be back!
Restaurants inside the PA Beach Club & Hotel
Note: The PA Beach Club & Hotel is closed for renovations until January 2025. The beach club, gym, restaurants, pool and all public areas are closed to the public.
Xenote (CLOSED for Renovations)
Xenote is the main restaurant located at the PA Beach Club & Hotel. The restaurant is open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner starting at 7:00 AM. Xenote caters mainly to the guests of the hotel but Puerto Aventuras residents and guests with a PA Passport card are also welcome to dine there. Here you can expect good service from professional staff. Tomahawk steaks and other fine cuts of the highest quality meat are the order of the day at Xenote for which you will pay top dollar. But, if you have any special carnivores in your life, this is a good place to treat them.
La Isla (CLOSED for Renovations)
La Isla is the casual dining option at the PA Beach Club & Hotel and services the needs of the guests on the beach, at the swim-up bar and around the pool. Can you imagine anything more decadent than eating sushi, on a pristine Caribbean beach with your toes in the sand? La Islá menu offers a nice selection of sushi rolls plus casual fare including shrimp tacos, pizza, burgers, sandwiches and finger foods. You will pay a premium for the privilege but for lunch delivered straight to your beach lounger, we think it´s probably worth it.

Puerto Aventuras Golf Club
The Divot
The Divot is one of the few “fine dining” restaurants in Puerto Aventuras and the go-to place for special occasions. It´s a great place to get away from the marina crowds and enjoy a quiet meal in an elegant atmosphere. On Fridays, they have a great Cuban band which is a wonderful experience. Every Saturday they cook up their famous paella which gets great reviews. The Divot is located at the Golf & Tennis Club across from the Pro Shop.
Hoyo 19
Located on the new Par 3 golf course, Hoyo 19 (the 19th hole) is a great spot to finish up after a round of golf in Puerto Aventuras. Hoyo 19 has a full bar and a small menu of tapas-style plates, tacos, sandwiches and things to share. When it is all lit up at night, Hoyo 19 offers a magical atmosphere that you can´t miss if you are entering Puerto Aventuras in the evening. It is a nice place adding to the small-town feel of this development.
Marina Bay Yacht Club
De Boca en Boca
The newly opened Marina Bay Yacht Club is home to a lovely waterfront restaurant, De Boca en Boca. This is the only fine dining restaurant in Puerto Aventuras that offers dining in both an indoor air-conditioned space as well as dining al fresco. The Yacht Club just opened recently and we have not yet had the opportunity to get over there for a meal. It’s a beautiful space and the menu looks nice. You can see the dinner menu here.
De Boca en Boca is servcing breakfast 8 AM – 12 PM, lunch 12 PM – 6 PM and dinner 6 PM – 11 PM. Stay tuned for a full review.
Puerto Aventuras Restaurants Beyond the Gates

Taqueria el Arbolito
Since 1999, Tacos el Arbolito has been serving up the best tacos de guisado to residents and visitors in Puerto Aventuras. This unassuming restaurant offers over 30 varieties of “guisados” daily beginning at 5:30 AM. You can also find barbacoa, birria and lechon Tuesday through Sunday. Their tacos are hot and fresh and served on corn tortillas made right there, while you watch.
They have an extensive list of juices, smoothies and liquados as well as freshly brewed Cafe de Olla. This is one of the best-loved taco places in Puerto Aventuras and the best place to start your day. Tacos el Arbolito is open daily from 5:30 AM until 3 PM.
Mero Mero
Don’t let the unassuming location and the tarped palapa roof put you off. Mero Mero has been serving up some of the best Mexican “antojitos” and seafood dishes for years. This family-friendly eatery is popular with Puertoaventureños on both sides of the highway for its well-priced food and friendly service. Mero Mero is open 7 days a week for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
The best day to be there is Thursday when they serve up their famous “Pozole estilo Guererro“. Plan to come early or order ahead if you want to try the secret family recipe. If you are looking for authentic Mexican food made with love, this is the place.

La Pescaderia del Pueblo
Located just inside the Puerto Aventuras poblado, almost across from the Oxxo, this open-air seafood restaurant is serving up some very delicious and affordable shrimp and fish tacos, a variety of ceviches and tostadas. They offer whole, fried fish and a rich satisfying caldo de camaron as well. Everything is fresh and delicious and served with a smile. La Pescaderia del Pueblo is open Tuesday through Sunday from 10 AM until 6 PM.

Carnitas Estilo Pueblo
Located just a few blocks in from the entrance to the Puerto Aventuras poblado, Carnitas Estilo Pueblo is a very popular spot serving up large portions of succulent carnitas made daily onsite. You can get pure maciza (white pork meat) but our favorite is to have all the cuts mixed together or surtida. Choose from heaping tacos, tortas or bring your carnitas home by the kilo. Carnitas Estilo Pueblo is open daily from 6:30 AM until 5 PM but in our experience, if you arrive after 2 PM, the options become very limited.
