PAIFF 2025 Will Feature Over 70 Films from 29 Countries

The Puerto Aventuras International Film Festival (PAIFF) is set to make an exciting return for its second edition, taking place from April 2 to 6, 2025. One of the festival’s most anticipated screenings this year is the premiere of Greenpeace Mexico’s powerful documentary, “Voices of the Mayan Jungle: A Battle for Life” (Voces de la Selva Maya: Una Batalla por la Vida). The film explores the environmental and social threats facing the Mayan jungle, Mexico’s vital “green lung,” due to deforestation, industrial agriculture, mega pig farms, real estate expansion, and the controversial Mayan Train project.

The documentary gives a platform to Indigenous communities and environmental defenders fighting to protect their land and traditions. Carlos Samayoa, Greenpeace Mexico’s campaign coordinator emphasized, “We want the cry of the jungle to be heard throughout Mexico and beyond its borders.”
